How to Set Up MCP Servers
This guide will walk you through setting up MCP servers for Claude Desktop using Toolsy - the easiest way to connect Claude to your tools.
Prerequisites
- Claude Desktop installed on your computer
- A Toolsy account (free)
- Accounts for the tools you want to connect (Slack, Notion, etc.)
Step 1: Sign Up for Toolsy
Go to toolsy.today and create a free account. This takes about 30 seconds.
Step 2: Connect Your Tools
From your Toolsy dashboard, click on the integrations you want to use. Each integration uses OAuth, so you'll be redirected to authorize Toolsy to access your account. No API keys needed.
Example: To connect Slack, click "Connect Slack" → Authorize in Slack → Done!
Step 3: Create Your MCP
Use the AI wizard to describe what you want your MCP to do. For example:
"I want to manage my Slack messages and create Linear tickets from conversations"
The wizard will automatically select the right tools and generate your configuration.
Step 4: Install in Claude Desktop
Copy the generated configuration and paste it into your Claude Desktop config file:
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
Step 5: Restart Claude Desktop
Quit and reopen Claude Desktop. Your new MCP server will be active and you can start using natural language to interact with your connected tools.
